You know the feeling of sitting in front of your book shelf and thinking by yourself “I really miss these characters, I want to spend more time with them”? The Emperor is exactly that kind of book.
Dante and Amara will climb into your heart and you will miss them when you put the book down. They have the most beautiful love story that accompanies a tension-filled plot with many mysteries and secrets.
The Emperor Book Summary
Dante Maroni is not who he seems. He seems like a charming mafia air donned in suits. But underneath all this lurks a silent and ruthless rebel with a fierce love for one woman.
When Dante infiltrates the Syndicate that is responsible for the disappearance of children, he finds information that turns his whole world upside down.
On the other hand, Amara is the Maroni housekeeper’s daughter. She has loved Dante since before she even realised it. Her life was not all sunshine and roses. She was kidnapped and tortured when she was just fifteen. She lost everything, herself, her life and her home as she knows it.
However, many years later, once she has finally found her way again, everything once again falls to pieces and this time she is forced to join the game.
This book is laden with secrets and mysteries through which Dante and Amara’s love blooms.

Some Other Thoughts About The Emperor
In The Predator and The Reaper it was obvious that there was something going on between Morana and Dante. However, what I expected was not what we got. What we got was so much better.
We got a beautiful love story rising from the ashes of hurt and mistrust.
The characters were more than skin deep. There are layers upon layers of things to learn about them.
I also really felt that I could connect with the characters on an emotional level. This is one of those books that once you finish the book, you wish you could go back just to spend more time with them.
Series or Standalone?
The Emperor is not a standalone. It is the third book in RuNyx’s Dark Verse series.
Although the books are about different couples, the overarching plot makes that you cannot read any of the books as standalones.
Tropes
While the first part of this book is a forbidden romance between friends, the book is far more than that. The second part is a beautiful second chance.
I tend to not like friends to lovers or second chance romances. They usually bore me to no end, but it was not the case with this book. The tension was there until the very end.
The Emperor Book Quotes
“You’re not going to walk through life, Amara,” he uttered roughly, each word a vow that cemented itself in her heart. “You’ll dance through it. And I’ll fucking remove anyone who tries to break your rhythm. I promise you.”
– Dante Maroni
“You’re the beat to my heart, Amara.”
– Dante Maroni
You’re in my blood, beating in my fucking heart. The only way you go is when the heart stops.
– Dante Maroni
“Give me your dreams and your nightmares, your pleasure and your pain, your fantasies and your fears. Give me everything”
– Dante Maroni
“Amara has always been strong but so kind in a way I didn’t think people could be. I used to think strength had to be jaded until she taught me otherwise. She is strong like water is strong—it doesn’t appear that way because it’s adaptable, but it can seep into the smallest of cracks and break open the largest of rocks over time. She’ll be fine.”
– Zia (Amara’s Mom)
“What if I get hurt?” she whispered into his jacket. He pulled back so she could see him, his eyes solemn, soft, sincere on hers. His face dipped closer and he pressed a soft kiss to her mouth. “Then, I’ll kiss your scars.”
– Amara and Dante
