Savage Saviour by Sonja Grey Review

⭐️ 3.5/5
🌶️ 4/5

Savage Saviour has a beautiful story. I have a soft spot for ruthless, untouchable MMCs saving an abused FMC from her circumstances. The only thing that got me under was that the story was a bit prolonged beyond what was necessary.

Plot Summary

When the innocent Riley walks into Artyom’s club they both know there is no turning back. It doesn’t matter that she is an innocent twenty-four year old and he a highly trained killer twelve years her senior.

Both their lives change in an instant.

Suddenly, the trained killer people call Death, becomes a protector. He knows that Riley is in trouble and a pawn in her brother’s game against the Fedorov Bratva. So, he vows to protect and free her from her heartless brother and his cruel friend.

My Thoughts

savage saviour by sonja grey

Savage saviour started out pretty well, but at some point the story started to move too slowly. I also felt like the end was too drawn out. All the action happened and then there was still about 20% of the book left.

Other than that I’d say it was a good book. I have quite the soft spot for books in which the FMC is saved from an abusive situation.

I liked the characters and the character development of Riley, in particular, was absolutely beautiful.

When it comes to Artyom, it always amazes me that after like a gazillion alpha male books, that I’m still absolutely floored when these ruthless, untouchable mafia men become the sweetest of sweethearts when it comes to their women. If they heard me say this, they’d probably take me to one of their warehouses, but it’s adorable.

Series or Standalone?

This is the second book in Sonja Grey’s Fedorov Bratva series. However, you can read it as a standalone if, for some reason you don’t want to read Caught by the Bratva Boss first.

But honestly, I really recommend that you also read the first book. As with all interconnected standalone series, it is more fun if you read all of them. Also, I liked the first book even better than this one.

Tropes

This is an age gap instalove story. It is also one of the classic examples of an MMC in a dark mafia romance being an obsessive, overprotective partner with strong “touch her and you ☠️” vibes.

Then, there is also the beautiful trope called found family. It is really heartwarming. I mean, just look at what Artyom told Riley when she told him that she was sorry for the loss of his parents:

It’s okay, milaya. You are my family, and the Bratva is my family.
– Artyom Morozov

Pet Names

Artyom calls Riley milaya, which, is Russian for honey. Kinda sweet (pun not really intended).

Quotes

“I shouldn’t be complaining about pain when you’ve endured far more than I could ever imagine.” “Yeah, it hurt a bit,” I say, making her smile at my dry tone. “But that doesn’t mean what happened to you wasn’t just as bad or worse. Sometimes the most painful things don’t leave any obvious scars.”
– Riley and Artyom

“You’re a very scary man, Artyom, but you don’t scare me.”
– Riley

“I’m yours, milaya, and only yours. There will never be anyone else for me, baby.”
– Artyom Morozov

“You’re my future, you’re my whole world, and I always want you close to me.”
– Artyom Morozov
