Paved in Venom by Sonja Grey Review

⭐️ 4.5/5
🌶️ 5/5

I’m hooked… Paved in Venom is the second book in the Melnikov Bratva series by Sonja Grey and is absolutely amazing.

I am usually not a fan of series that don’t consist of standalones. I get bored very easily and not many authors have managed to keep me hooked that long. But not Sonja Grey. She has the ability to hook you and keep you on the edge of your seat till the very end.

Note:
Although I love this series I have to warn you that it is quite dark and is centralised around human trafficking. Please read the content warning before reading the books if you have any triggers 🖤
🖤.

Plot Summary

When Simona is taken by a ring of deadly people all hope seems lost.

When Danil first sees Simona he knows that he’d pay any amount of money to get her.

He wins the bid, but his plan of setting her free doesn’t last long. Danil very soon realises that he simply won’t be able to let Simona go. But that’s not a problem, because she also doesn’t want to go.

When Simona agrees to join the Melnikov brothers in their quest to find Alina there is no going back. They soon find themselves in a pit of vipers and they can only hope to survive their venom.

My Thoughts

Something amazing about this series is how the plot doesn’t feel stretched out. The reason for that is that every book is about a different couple with their own issues to solve.

In every book a very specific part of the overarching plot is addressed each time bringing them one step closer to finding Alina and bringing down the trafficking ring.

Quotes

I know I’m in serious trouble, that I’ve completely fallen for her, but there’s no stopping it, no denying it, and definitely no changing it. I’m hers, completely and absolutely, and there’s no fucking going back.|
– Danil Melnikov

“I can get myself ready.” “I know you can.” He squirts out a generous amount of lotion and kneels down. Grabbing one of my legs, he lifts it up and props my foot on his thigh as he starts to massage my legs while he rubs the lotion in. “This isn’t about what you can or can’t do. This is about me wanting to take care of you, sladkaya.”
– Danil Melnikov

“You know I can feed myself, right?” I tell him when he cuts off another piece for me. The corner of his mouth lifts as he gives me that sexy smirk of his. “Where’s the fun in that? I like to take care of you.” He holds the piece of steak to my lips. “So let me take care of you, sladkaya.”
– Simona and Danil
