Heart wrenching… that is the word that comes to mind when I think of Never Truth by Jill Ramsower.

Nico and Sofia met when they were still children caring more about hunting ladybugs than anything else. But life never stays that simple, does it?

Something I Loved Tremendously About This Book

Quite often with second chance romances there are a lot of petty squabbles and one of the people refuses to listen to the other one’s side. While that does give a story some tension, it can become boring and predictable.

However, in Never Truth, Jill Ramsower managed to write an amazing story with great tension and unexpected turns without any of those irritating and predictable nonsense.

Sofia didn’t just forgive Nico. He had to do quite a bit of grovelling to prove himself to her, but she at least gave him a chance to explain himself and to understand his past motivations.

It is an admirable feat for an author to manage to write an intriguing plot with a lot of tension without miscommunication and Jill certainly managed to do that.

Series or Standalone?

Although this is the second book in Jill Ramsower’s series, “The five families”, you can read it as a standalone because it is about a different couple. There are some things binding the books together which will make it more enjoyable if you do read all of the books, though.

Pet Names

Nico and Sofia met while she was busy hunting for ladybugs in a garden, but before he could get her name her father called her to go. Without a name Nico simply took to calling her Ladybug girl and the name “Ladybug” kind of stuck as they grew older.

Quotes

I had no idea where my life would take me, but I had no doubt she would be there beside me, wherever that was. Our connection was like gravity—it simply was. You didn’t wonder if someday gravity wouldn’t be there anymore. It wasn’t even in the realm of possibilities, so it wasn’t worth thinking about.”
– Nico Conti

“You’re too good for me, Ladybug. Don’t get me wrong, I’m keeping you anyway, but no matter how many laws you break, you’ll always be perfect in my eyes.”
