🌶️ 3/5
A Sinner’s Lies isn’t a bad book, it just isn’t my favourite Kylie Kent book. However, something that was really great was the character development that happened in this story.
Plot Summary
Gabe doesn’t allow the world, or even his family, to see the real him, but he can’t fool Daisy.
The reason?
A liar can spot a liar.
She was always seen as the rebellious girl with behavioural issues. It was only after school that her life started to change. Kind of… she actually just buried everything under a heap of lies.
Now, it is up to them trying to find a way navigate their lies so they can build a healthy relationship. Will they be able to let each other in to find a common truth?
My Thoughts
I wasn’t that fond of A Sinner’s Lies.
However, I liked that you can feel the inner struggles that the characters have to endure.
I’m not a fan of lying all the time and Daisy drove me a bit nuts. Her constant push and pull, not being able to decide what she wants started to get annoying. She found it hard to accept Gabe for who he is and that irritated the living hell out of me. If you choose someone, you choose them for who they are and not who you want them to be.
Furthermore, it contained a plot twist that was so out of the ordinary I’m kinda still processing it. I wasn’t a big fan of it and I don’t think that it contributed to the story.
Where to Read?
You can get A Sinner’s Lies by Kylie Kent on Amazon. If you buy it using my link, I’ll get a small commission at no extra cost to you.
You can get the Kindle version of a Sinner’s lies for free with a Kindle Unlimited trail.
There is an audiobook of A Sinner’s Lies, you can listen to it for free with an Audible Premium Plus trail.
Series or Standalone?
The De Bellis Crime Family series is technically comprised of standalones, but I wouldn’t read it as such. There is a mystery that starts in A Sinner’s Promise and in each book we get a few more tidbits that will lead to the final resolution in Santo’s book.
Tropes
We have a good case of instalove and he falls first. But the biggest part of this story was the healing that happened in the characters because of love.
