Forever Lies by Jill Ramsower Review

⭐️ 5/5
🌶️ 3.5/5

If you want a book that you can’t predict everything from a mile away, Forever lies is the book for you.

I am the queen of predicting what will happen in stories and very few authors can manage to throw me for a loop. But in this book Jill certainly managed to go above and beyond any suspicions I might have had.

Plot Summary

When Alessia got stuck in an elevator with the most handsome man she had ever laid eyes on her life changed in an instant before she had even seen it coming.

He exuded power and the chemistry between them was instantaneous. There was just one problem… Something dark and ruthless was hidden behind the tempting façade he put forth. And he had decided she was his and there was no escaping him.

Series or Standalone?

Technically, it is the first book in Jill Ramsower’s series “The Five Families”. However, it can be read as a standalone because Luca’s and Alessia’s story is completed in this book.

But to be honest, after reading this book I can’t wait to start with the next one. So, I see no reason to stop here.

Quotes

“Hypocrisy is a tricky thing. It parades itself around like rationale and reason, deceiving you into believing your thoughts are sound and just when they are anything but.”
– Luca Romano

“You are the only one who dictates the parameters of your world. If you say you can’t do something, then you can’t, but if you believe you can, you’ll find a way.”
– Luca Romano

“The riskiest ventures can yield the greatest prizes.”
– Luca Romano

“I locked the door, then leaned back against it, wondering at the twists and turns of life. One minute, life is black and white, and the next thing you know, there are only shades of grey. Sometimes, that change occurs slowly—the death of one stage in your life setting in like an insidious virus. Other times, change comes about dizzyingly quick like the sudden drop of a guillotine—blinding and altering reality until life is unrecognizable. At least when change is a slow progression, the memories of where you started are grainy and distorted, your new reality the only clear picture remaining. When change is sudden and violent, it creates an open wound that is a glaring reminder of how things were, the images still fresh in your mind. The other problem with sudden change is there’s no undoing it. Once it’s done, there’s no going back.”
– Alessia Genovese
