My Russian Salvation by Sonja Grey Review

⭐️ 5/5
🌶️ 4/5

My Russian Salvation by Sonja Grey made me cry like few had books before. It is such an amazing book with characters that had to go through such horrible things before they could find their HEA. But they are strong beyond measure.

I couldn’t put this book down, who cares that I had to go to work the next day?

This book is not super dark, but there are some sensitive topics in it, though. So, if you do have some triggers, just read the content warning at the start of the book. 🖤🖤

Plot Summary

Once they were in love.

Once he asked her to marry him.

And once she had to break his heart with a two letter word.

For the past six years both of them went through hell and back trying to figure out how to live without the other. Vadim tried to leave the past behind and make his fortune. Whereas the only way for Nadia to survive was to cling to memories of him. But the man she once knew is gone.

Now, she needs his help desperately. And he wants revenge on her father.

It’s a mere business transaction, she gets her help and he gets his revenge. Simple, right?

But then again, things never are quite as simple, are they?

While Vadim is supposed to protect her, his cold exterior and determination to bring her father down might just be the thing that finally completely breaks her.

My Thoughts

Okay, so you know how I mentioned I cried so much while reading My Russian Salvation? I was not kidding.

At one point I was probably crying for like ten minutes straight while trying to read through the tears, because I couldn’t put the book down.

But it is not all sad, honestly, it is an emotional rollercoaster, in the best way possible. Both characters have so much trauma to work through, but they manage to shine through it all.

The character development is seriously amazing. Both of the MCs grow into such beautifully healed people, it makes your heart break.

Is My Russian Salvation a Series or a Standalone?

My Russian Salvation is the third in a series of interconnected standalones. The first two books are My Russian Obsession and My Russian Temptation, both of which are worth your time.

While the first two books are quite closely connected, this one has very little mention of what happened in the previous books. It is almost as if it is just set in the same world.

So, you can totally read this as a standalone, but why would you skip two books?

Tropes

This is a second chance age gap romance. It has some mentions of Bratva-related things, but not enough to classify it as a mafia romance.

Also, the MMC is quite protective.

Quotes

“We can let the bad destroy us, or we can rise above it as best we can, and when we finally do have something good to be happy about it, we can appreciate it all the more because of the bad.”
